Board of Appeals (APPEALS)

2015-2016

Function: At the discretion of the DoS/VPSA or DoF/VPAA, the BOA may review cases heard by the IB and AHB.  Appeals will be considered on the following grounds: (a) a procedural error occurred that significantly impacted the outcome of the hearing (e.g. substantiated bias, material deviation from established procedures, etc.); (b) to consider new evidence, unavailable during the original hearing or investigation, that could substantially impact the original finding or sanction; or (c) the sanctions imposed are substantially outside the guidelines set by the College for this type of violation or the cumulative conduct record of the respondent.

Membership: For academic integrity cases, BOA membership includes: two faculty members appointed by the FEC on a case-by-case basis drawn from the pool of faculty who serve on the IB who may or may not have heard the case in question, the DoF/VPAA as chair, the two students drawn from the IB pool who may or may not have participated in the IB hearing.  For social integrity cases, BOA membership includes: one faculty member appointed by the FEC drawn from the pool of faculty serving on the IB who may or may not have heard the case in question, the DoS/VPSA as chair, and two students serving on the IB who may or may not have participated in the initial hearing.  The decision whether or not to involve members of the board present at the initial hearing is made at the discretion of the DoF/VPAA in academic integrity cases or the DoS/VPSA in social integrity cases.

Function: To monitor and recommend changes in non-unionized employee benefits to the Institutional Planning Committee and other College constituencies.

Membership: The Committee will consist of three members of the faculty, three members of the support staff, and three members of the administrative/professional staff, to include the Associate Dean of the Faculty and Director of Human Resources. The faculty members will be elected to three-year terms. The support staff and administrative/professional staff will determine their own methods for selecting their representatives. Undesignated members will serve three-year terms. The Committee will include the Director of Financial Planning and Budgeting (or an appropriate alternate chosen by the Office of Business Affairs) and the Assistant Director for Benefits Administration as non-voting members. The Committee will annually elect a chair from among voting members of the Committee.
