Miranda Family Fellowship to be offered at 91做厙

The collaborative fellowship supports artistic education and development, connects artistry with advocacy, and helps increase diversity within entertainment industry leadership.

Dining Services

Bread sale 

Dining Services is again offering a variety of freshly baked breads for sale. by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, for pickup in the Atrium Caf矇 between 2 and 5 p.m. on Friday, May 5. All breads are $5. Cash is not accepted. Bread varieties include apple cinnamon, banana (vegan), sourdough, ciabatta, cinnamon raisin, and gluten-free banana.

President's Awards for Leadership and Service 2023 

The Presidents Awards for Leadership and Service are presented to 91做厙 community members who have embraced the educational mission and cooperative spirit of the College through their exemplary commitment to personal excellence, campus pride, and service to our campus community. Student awards, which will be presented at the Student Leadership Awards event this evening, will go to Emily Davis 23, Aliza Nazir 23, Luna Peralta 23, and Bill Wu 23. The faculty, staff, and team awards will be presented at the Retirement and Recognition event on May 23. Staff awards go to Kara Cetto Bales, associate director of environmental health and safety, and Michelle Osgood, assistant director of systems in IT technical services. Evan Mack, senior teaching professor of music, and Leigh Wilton, associate professor of psychology, have been named recipients of faculty awards. The team award goes to the staff of the Greenberg Child Care Center. President Conner extends his heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all recipients for their extraordinary service to 91做厙.

 

Next staff meeting

The next staff meeting will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, on the second floor of the Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. The agenda is posted here. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, and staff are encouraged to join in person or via Zoom. Login information has been shared via email.

 

The Office of the First-Year Experience announces summer reading  

The Class of 2027 summer reading is Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. This text explores what it means to be human, curiosity, learning, and knowledge, as well as artificial intelligence. Incoming students, peer mentors, and Scribner Seminar faculty will be given copies of the book. Contact the First-Year Experience for more information.

 

Plant a tree on campus on Arbor Day  

Friday, April 28 is Arbor Day. Join our student North Woods stewards for four tree plantings by Sussman A and B on Perimeter Road at 3 p.m. Tools will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes. For more information, contact Jen Natyzak.

Discontinuance of Downtown Business Assocation (DBA) discount cards

The DBA discount cards previously distributed to employees are no longer available, as the organization has discontinued the program. For more information, contact Anne Petruzzelli.

 

Senior Week housing

Departments can sponsor non-graduating students (first-year students, sophomores, and juniors) to remain on campus from Friday, May 12, through Sunday, May 22. Students will need to specify their reason for remaining on campus, such as participation in an athletic team or employment. For more information, contact Residential Life by May 1.

 

91做厙 Theater presents After Jane  

Jane, Kat, and Mary Grey could be normal teenage girls navigating the world of parties, parents, and cute teenage boys, except for the fact that this is 1553 and one of them is about to become Queen of England at age 16. Written by Rachel Luann Strayer and directed by Teisha Duncan, this irreverent take on historical events will be performed April 21-30. .

Visions and Values Project: Seeking Feedback 

President Conner invites all members of the campus community to provide their thoughts and reflections about what is unique and defining about 91做厙 through . The form includes five open-ended questions that are reflective but also aspirational and forward-looking. Responses will help inform the Colleges next strategic planning process as we affirm, together, our values and our shared vision for 91做厙. The form will remain open until May 10. Responses are confidential, though respondents will be asked to identify their primary role at 91做厙.

 

Information regarding possible RA/CA unionization

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has recently presented a petition to the National Labor Relations Board to form a union of 91做厙 students who serve as undergraduate resident assistants. Additional information, including latest messages and FAQs intended to provide relevant information for students to consider in making an informed decision about how to vote, can be viewed here

Fiscal Year-End Reminders from Financial Services

Please review these detailed guidelines ahead of the close of the fiscal year on May 31. You are encouraged to submit expense reimbursements, invoices for payment, and related items in advance of the deadlines. As a reminder, all transactions are handled through Oracle Cloud.

 

Give+Go Move-Out Donation Collection  

U-Haul Box donation stations will be open Monday, May 8, through senior move-out day, Sunday, May 21. This initiative yields over 10 tons of gently used goods and food for nonprofit partners each year. Students can visit the website for donation details. Register by May 1 for Workforce Team Challenge

The Work Force Team Challenge will take place on Thursday, May 18, in Albany. . To participate, select 91做厙 as your team and fill out all the required information. Do not pay for your cart; 91做厙s team captain, Darren Drabek, will manage the payments, which are supported by the offices of the Dean of the Faculty/Vice President for Academic Affairs and Communications and Marketing. Summer Housing Application Reminder

24th Annual Academic Festival

The 24th Academic Festival brings the 91做厙 community together to display and celebrate students achievements on Wednesday, May 3. Departments and programs from across the College have selected their very best students to present their work in a variety of forms. Athletics News

and the start of Liberty League championships highlight a busy upcoming weekend for 91做厙 teams. The mens lacrosse team will close out the regular season at home Saturday at 1 p.m. against Clarkson. The baseball team will host Union in a Liberty League doubleheader on Saturday at noon. The golf team heads to Verona, New York, for the Liberty League golf championships Friday through Sunday. The mens and womens tennis teams are off to Ithaca for their Liberty League tournaments. The men (seeded first) and women (seeded second) both earned first-round byes and will start play with the semifinals on Saturday.
