President Marc Conner and College administrators updated staff about important issues, including trends in Admissions and budget planning, at the February staff meeting.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Hobart and William Smith for the Big Green Scream this Friday, Feb. 9. The women tip at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. The first 250 fans at each game will receive a collectable T-shirt; several in-game contests and prizes, including a 91 Shop gift card, will also be available. Recycle Mania returns to help make the night a zero-waste event. 

Beau Breslin, Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Chair in Government, is the author of “A Constitution for the Living: Imagining How Five Generations of Americans Would Rewrite the Nation’s Fundamental Law” (Stanford University Press, 2021). The book was inspired by discussions with students in his first-year Scribner Seminar, American Liberty: Our Enduring Struggle with Constitutional Rights, as well as by summer collaborative research with students.

Partnering for Peace in Israel and Palestine 

‌A public event with Combatants for Peace (CfP) will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Gannett Auditorium. Registration is currently closed, but overflow space will be available in Davis Auditorium for those who wish to attend and watch the simulcast. Activists will share their powerful stories of transformation and joint work for dignity, justice, and liberty for all. ‌‌This event is part of 91's efforts to provide . Views expressed by participants and presenters are their own. 

‌Wyckoff Center presents Lovefest ‌

‌Please visit Wyckoff Center for a Valentine’s Day open house from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14. There will be stations with arts and crafts, emotional support animals, seated massage, reiki, a sound bath, and more. Sweet treats and snacks will be provided. We are guided by bell hooks’ wisdom from her book “All About Love: New Visions”: “To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients — care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.” Students, staff, faculty, and retirees are welcome to join. 

‌Camp Northwoods registration 

‌Online registration for , 91's summer day camp for children, opens for employees at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. 91 community members receive priority and will be sent an email with specific instructions that morning. For more information, contact Christine Merrill

‌President’s office hours ‌ ‌

‌Summer Experience Fund Award applications

‌Applications for the Summer Experience Fund and Post Grad Awards are due April 11. Stipends of $4,500 are awarded to support students completing internships, research assignments, community service projects, artist residencies, apprenticeships, and more. ‌SEE-Beyond Award application for summer

‌Applications for SEE-Beyond Awards are due March 21. SEE-Beyond invites students to apply academic-year learning to real-world challenges during the summer, and awardees will receive $6,000 to support a variety of academic endeavors, such as laboratory research, internships, and artistic residencies. ‌2024 Summer Pre-College application ​

‌Did you know 91's pre-college program is one of the top 10 in the country? Returning to in-person learning this year, high school juniors and seniors are invited to live on campus, take 91 classes, and earn college credit. Classes run July 1 to Aug. 3. Learn more.

‌91 Student Exhibition

‌The 2024 Juried 91 Student Exhibition will have its opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today, Feb. 7, in the , Saisselin Art Center. ‌Red Cross blood drive

‌Career Connections: Class of '24 Virtual Career Fair 

‌Class of 2024 students are invited to connect with employers and alumni from a wide variety of industries during the Career Development Center’s senior exclusive career fair. This event is being hosted virtually from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, through the Brazen platform. Visit the Career Development Center’s website for information on how to prepare for the event. Make Your Voice Heard 91 Public Policy Prize competition

‌Applications for the 2024 Make Your Voice Heard 91 Public Policy Prize competition are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 12. The competition is an opportunity to engage with letter writing and grassroots campaigns about important public policy issues. First prize wins $1,000 and two runners-up will receive $500. 

 

‌Kids Night Out

‌SGA Green Grant awards four student projects ‌

The SGA Green Grant, a $10,000 competitive grant open to all students interested in pursuing sustainability projects on campus, has awarded four student projects for its inaugural cycle. Projects will address waste reduction, food production, and sustainable landscaping. For more information, contact Apple Alvarez. ‌ ‌

Composting is back

‌The student compost team has deployed compost stations in first-floor kitchens in residence halls and buckets to each campus apartment, along with a central collection blue bin at each building's laundry room. Departmental compost sites have also been deployed across campus. for locations and details on what's compostable, and email our compost managers with questions. 

‌LGBTQIA+ meet and greet 

‌The 91 LGBTQIA+ community invites all faculty, staff, and students to join in a meet and greet scheduled for early March. Please email Doug Chang, Eliza Kent, or John Sanders to be added to the email list. More details will be shared shortly.
