91°µÍø Website Standards
The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) has developed templates within the content management system (CMS) to assist departments and programs in creating websites that align with the College’s web design and functionality.
These templates help keep the website consistent by ensuring that important elements like the header, footer, and navigation menu are in the same place on every page. This approach assists with standardization across the site and provides visitors with the same user experience. As website owners, utilizing templates can significantly streamline the web design process. Templates offer a structured framework that fosters creativity and allows for individuality within the main content areas of the site. Using templates enables site owners to maintain consistency across different pages while still having the flexibility to personalize and customize specific sections to meet their unique needs.
The standards will meet the general website brand identity as follows:
- All pages associated will utilize the 91°µÍø seal, wordmark, and branded logos.
- All pages must include an email contact address for the department or program person(s) responsible for maintaining that page and responding to questions from site visitors.
- Site owners and content contributors must follow the College's brand colors that complement those used throughout the site as outlined here.
- The typefaces selected must complement those used on official 91°µÍø web pages.
- All pages should be compliant with the provisions of the 91°µÍø Web Accessibility Policy.
- This includes a requirement that all images on a page must have the alternate text (ALT) tag for web accessibility.
- All images used on web pages must be uploaded to the CMS, and not linked from other sources such as storage drives or cloud storage.
- All pages must maintain consistency in 91°µÍø publications, OCM uses AP style guidelines for all digital (and print) content.
The OCM Web Team at 91°µÍø is authorized to monitor and review every page on the 91°µÍø website to ensure the accuracy of information and compliance with the website standards. If any department or individual responsible for a page fails to meet these guidelines, they will be requested to make the necessary modifications. Additionally, the team has the authorization to remove or edit any pages on the 91°µÍø website without seeking permission, especially if these pages consistently fail to meet the established standards. These guidelines are not meant to exclusively dictate the design of pages for 91°µÍø students, faculty, or staff. Instead, they ensure alignment with the College's overall external-facing web presence and brand guidelines.
