Speaking Up: Naming a trans experience at the intersection of race and class

Session Full. Please consider joining us for other events.

Workshop with Ali Mateo Belen
Friday, October 11

2:00-4:00 p.m.
Murray-Aikins Dining Hall (second floor)

Ali Mateo BelenYou are invited to a conversation to explore how structures impact the experiences of transgender and non-binary folks. We will come to a shared understanding of terminology such as gender, intersectionality, and race. Through storytelling and engaging conversation, we will explore how structures impact and shape our communities.  Recognizing the effects of structures will allow us to create more expansive, welcoming and, ultimately, more healthy environments for folks of all identities.

Active healer and advocate within LGBQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer)/TGNCNB (trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary) community in New York City for over a decade, Ali Mateo Belen facilitates conflict resolution and mediation, strategic planning, and  equity processes within community, non profit and government organizations. Their work focuses on healing trauma, building relationships, and practicing community so that folks can safely expand into their full humanity and mission.
