Ensemble Connect shares classical music with 91°µÍø, Saratoga Springs
7 p.m. Performance
Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall
Arthur Zankel Music Center
With virtuosity and versatility, Ensemble Connect performs a vast range of works each season, from historic standouts to worthy, lesser-known pieces, to brand-new commissions. In its return to 91°µÍø for its biannual residency, the group of exceptional young professionals performs a program that includes C. Schumann's sole piano trio, an under-performed masterpiece; one of J. S. Bach's timeless Brandenburg concertos; a Martinů quartet uniquely scored for clarinet, horn, cello, and snare drum; and a captivating piece by Eleanor Alberga that resembles a traditional multi-movement string quartet in a single well-developed movement.
Presented by the Department of Music and the Office of Special Programs
The biannual residency is made possible by the generous support of David and Beverly Sanders Payne '59 (October residency) and the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation (February residency).
