Course Description

Challenges of Migration

Instructor(s): Abel Arango, World Languages and Literatures

This course will introduce students to disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives on the challenges of migration from Latin America to the United States. In recent years, debates around national identities place racialized migrant communities at front and center. In this course, students will begin to familiarize themselves with how migrant communities expand our comprehension of national belonging. We will look at how scholars from different fields, such as anthropologists, sociologists, historians, film directors and creative writers, examine such questions.
