Joel Brown, distinguished artist-in-residence of music, won Record of the Year at the Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards (the 鈥淓ddies鈥�) for his pandemic-inspired original song 鈥�.鈥�
Joseph P. Cermatori, assistant professor of English, is publishing his first book, 鈥溾�� with Johns Hopkins University Press. The book won the American Comparative Literature Association's 2021 Helen Tartar First Book Award earlier this year.
Chris Vecsey, associate professor of neuroscience, received a three-year Academic Research Enhancement Award (R15) from the National Institutes of Health. The new award, entitled 鈥淚nvestigation of Neuropeptide Signaling Mechanisms that Control Sleep鈥� and totaling $427,433, will address how certain brain-signaling molecules called neuropeptides act at the cellular level to control sleep behavior. The new award will also support two half-time technicians and three undergraduates to conduct summer research projects for 10 weeks each year.
