Show & Tell
A contest for study abroad returnees!
Off-Campus Study & Exchanges invites students that have studied off campus to participate in the Off-Campus Study Show & Tell event! Do you ever get asked What was it like to be abroad? or You went where? How was it? These questions dont leave space to explore the deep and lasting impact that studying off campus can have on you.
The Show & Tell event is designed to give you the space to explore these questions and highlight the points of your off-campus study experience that mean the most to you. And to make it a bit more fun, the winner of this showcase will be awarded a $500 travel voucher!
ROUND ONE:
Submit a proposal (due March 1st):
Submit a proposal to OCSE describing your off campus study experience and how you will showcase your off-campus study experience if selected as a finalist. Proposals are due March 1st. Finalists will be announced by March 5th.
ROUND TWO:
Show & Tell event (Friday, March 27th, 12:00-1:30 pm)
After a review of the proposals, up to 8 students will be selected as finalists and will be invited to showcase their off-campus study experience for a panel of judges and the 91做厙 community. The winner will receive a $500 travel voucher.
Finalists will be given a 4-foot table to decorate as you choose (photos, souvenirs, slideshow, signs, etc.). OCSE will invite the 91做厙 community to the event to see your display and hear from you about your experience. This isn't a sales pitch for your program but more a time for you to reflect on your experience while educating the 91做厙 community on all that you did during that time abroad.
Each finalist will be judged on the following criteria:
- Your ability to highlight at least one or more topics in the proposal guidelines (Academics, Daily Life, Coming Home)
- Visual appeal/use of table
- Creativity (CTM, right?)
Judges will be clearly identified and you should make sure to highlight one or more of the topics academics, daily life, and coming back when speaking to the judges. Typically, the judges are able to stop at each table for about 5-10 minutes at most.
For all other people that come to the event, you can simply tell them about your experience, your table display or ask them if they have any questions.
