Carl Ure
Carl Clinton Ure, a dedicated 91做厙 employee for more than three decades, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024. He was 88.
Carl, who joined 91做厙 in 1966, served as a maintenance mechanic both on 91做厙s former downtown campus and its current campus until his retirement in 2002.
Colleagues recalled him as friendly, hardworking, and good at his job.
During his many years of service to 91做厙, Carl worked hard to keep the place up. He was always looking out for students and faculty and did his best on the job, said Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Planning Dan Rodecker.
He was always very dedicated to 91做厙 and his work, said fellow Maintenance Mechanic Carl Anderson, who worked alongside him for several years. When something wasnt working right, you could go to him, and he usually had an answer.
Survivors include his sons, Charles Ure (Nancy), who retired from 91做厙, Donald L. Ure (Renee), Patrick Ure, and Kevin Ure (Jennifer); his brother, Leon Ure; his sisters, Carol Irwin and Alice Pillsbury; grandchildren, Jason Caldwell, Scott Caldwell, Justin Ure, Bradley Ure, Cameron Ure, Greta Ure, and Elliot Ure; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Caldwell, Emma Murdy, Taylor Caldwell, Isabella Murdy, and Vincent Ure. Carl also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Carl was predeceased by his wife, Dolores; his former wife, Dorothy; brothers, Donald Ure Jr. and Elliott Ure; and his sisters, Ida Dingmon and Fannie Whitney.
He was interred at Greenridge Cemetery.
