Need to see art in person? The Schick Art Gallery is very pleased to open Indelible: Works in Ink from Pierogi Gallery and Flat Files. The exhibition features work by 35 artists representing a wide range of approaches, from abstract to representational, geometric to biomorphic, minimal to expressive, and from as tiny as one inch to as large as 10 by 20 feet.

Two large drawings by Dawn Clements are among the works in Indelible. Clements lived and worked in the Capital Region for many years before moving to New York City; she subsequently exhibited her work in the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and many other prominent venues.

Full list of exhibiting artists: Jimbo Blachly, Colleen Blackard, Heiner Blumenthal, Dawn Clements, Hugo Crosthwaite, Adam Dant, Katharina Denzinger, Lee Etheredge IV, Jane Fine, Matthew Friday, John Giglio, Jenny Herrick, Michael Houston, Darina Karpov, Nick Lamia, Naomi Lewis, Sascha Mallon, Karen Margolis, James Marshal, Linda Lee Nicholas, Shaun ODell, Joey Parlett, Meg Brown Payson, Dana Piazza, Kimberley Rector, Mark Reynolds, Jessica Deane Rossner, David Scher, Dee Shapiro, Meagan Shein, Paul Solis, Michael Tarbi, Charmaine Wheatley, Martin Wilner, and Zhao Xuebing.

Pierogi Flat Files began in 1995 with the idea of making original artwork available to a larger audience. The files are, indeed, stacked flatfile drawers holding all types of media on paper - painting, drawing, photography, prints, collage. Curators, collectors, critics, art dealers, and the general public may view work in the files (now including the work of over 700 artists) and the format has been widely imitated ().

On founding Pierogi and the Flat Files, co-director Joe Amrhein notes, As an artist myself, I have always found works on paper compelling.(They have) a greater sense of immediacy than, say, a larger painting might have. The idea for Pierogis Flat Files grew out of my realization that people dont often get to see these kinds of works in formal gallery and museum shows, and so the Flat File portfolios would be an ideal way for people to look through and actually touch original works and, in a sense, become their own curator, with works by established artists next to those by relative unknowns.

The Schick Art Gallery is located in the Saisselin Art Building; a map of the 91做厙 campus may be found on the 91做厙 website.
