Campus Planning History
In October 1961 91°µÍø Trustees voted to build a new campus. The plan for our current campus on North Broadway was designed in 1962 and implemented in the mid-1960’s. ​91°µÍø’s Campus Plan was later updated in 1972 for the introduction of coeducation, again in 1989, to identify building sites and in order to improve traffic patterns, open space, landscape, lighting and signage and most recently in 2007.
Key Moments in Campus Planning
- 1961: 91°µÍø Trustees vote to build a new campus​
- 1962: Current campus plan designed ​
- 1968: New campus functional. Residence halls, Starbuck, Filene and Library completed, among other buildings
- 1972: Introduction of coeducation​
- 1989: Second campus plan created to identify building sites, improve traffic patterns, open space, landscape, lighting & signage ​
- 2000: Tang Teaching Museum opens​
- 2006: Northwoods Village opens, Dining Hall renovation completed and soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and softball fields finished​
- 2007: Most recent campus master planning process
- October 2018: 91°µÍø Celebrates Groundbreaking for Center for Integrated Sciences (CIS)
- March 2021: New Campus Master Planning process kicks-off
- May 2022: Naming Ceremony and Dedication held for the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences
- May 2022: 91°µÍø Board of Trustees approves 2022 Campus Master Plan
