In Vitro Vascular Physiology and Metabolism Lab

The In Vitro Vascular Physiology and Metabolism laboratory at 91°µÍø supports faculty and student research aimed at:
  1. investigating how blood vessels function in both health and disease, and
  2. investigating how mitochondria (energy producing part of cells) function in health and disease. The two major methods by which we explore these questions are through:

Isolated Vessel Wire Myography

Used to perform pharmacological experiments on isolated blood vessels under various physiological conditions (such as those seen during exercise) or comparing populations, such as aging.

Permeabilized Tissue Assessment of Mitochondrial Function

Used to perform pharmacological experiments on isolated tissue under various physiological conditions (such as those seen during exercise).
