Title IX Resources
At 91做厙 our students safety and well-being is vital and we strive to provide support and resources for our students whether they are on campus or abroad. While abroad students might not be sure where to reach out for support in times of crisis. For this reason, OCSE has compiled a list of local resources for students participating on 91做厙 programs that find themselves victims of sexual assault, harassment or misconduct.
Please be aware: On-site program staff are mandatory reporters; therefore, they are required to report any incidents of sexual assault, harassment or misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator at 91做厙.
While on-site program staff are always ready and available to assist you, we understand that you may first want to talk with someone who can maintain your confidentiality. For that reason, this list provides you with the counseling, medical, and emergency services available in a given area, all of which are outside of the program itself.
If and when you are ready to discuss the matter with the on-site program staff, please be aware that you can choose to share as little or as much information as you want. The staff will be required to pass the information onto the on-campus 91做厙 Title IX Coordinator, Joel Aure, who will contact you directly. If you wish to contact Joel instead of working with the on-site program staff, he can be reached at jaure@skidmore.edu or (518) 580-5708.
First and foremost, what happened was not your fault! You did not consent to this sexual activity or contact.
- Your safety is of utmost importance! If you do not feel safe, get to a safe place.
Consider reaching out to someone you trust for support.
If you are in immediate danger or injured, get assistance. Typically this will mean calling the police or going to the hospital; we also urge you to contact the programs emergency line for assistance if you feel comfortable doing so. (However, they are mandated reporters so will not be able to maintain your confidentiality.) While this may be your first instinct, the laws governing rape and sexual assault differ from country to country. It is important to know if it is safe to call the authorities. The on-site program staff typically provides this important information during the on-site orientation - What do I do if I have been raped?
As you consider your reporting options, it is important to preserve any evidence.- While you may have a strong desire to shower or bathe, do not. You might wash away/destroy forensic evidence. Dont brush, comb or clean any part of your body, including your teeth.
- Dont change clothes, if possible.
- If you need to go to the bathroom, collect any urine you pass and note the time. In cases where you may have fallen victim to being drugged, this step is important for testing for date rape drugs.
- Seek professional help.
You do not have to go through this alone. Please consider utilizing the resources listed on this page. The on-site program staff typically provides this important information during the on-site orientation. is an organization that can provide assistance with resources such as counseling and legal advocacy.
