The Student Wellness Center

The Student Wellness Center is a student-staffed space where students can seek support and resources from trained peer health educators (PHEs) about a range of health topics. Students can also purchase wellness products, rent items such as hammocks and snowshoes, and can visit with our ever popular therapy dogs.

During the 2022-2023, we had a total of 1,613 visits to the center, our largest number to date! Therapy dogs continue to be a huge draw for students, making up for a whopping 74% of the visits, followed by 11% for peer-to-peer support, 9% for sales and 6% for other reasons such as contests and raffles.

Peer-to-Peer Support

PHE's receive training in health-related topics that are most often relevant to the college population, including alcohol and other drug use, mental health, stress management, sexual health, sexuality, sexual and gender based misconduct, nutrition, sleep, and more. Any student wishing to speak to a PHE in relation to these topics can visit the Wellness Center. The center is also stocked with pamphlets and educational materials that students are welcome to take with them.

In addition, PHE's are peer-to-peer anonymous resources for students wishing to discuss issues related to sexual and gender based misconduct (SGBM). If you have experienced SGBM and would like more information about resources and reporting,  please visit the SGBM website. If you are concerned about your safety, please contact Campus Safety at 518-580-5566 for immediate assistance. To speak to or make an on-campus appointment with a confidential Wellspring advocate for issues of sexual misconduct, relationship abuse, stalking or other issues related to sexual and gender-based misconduct, please contact the Wellspring Hotline at 518-584-8188 and ask to speak to the 91°µÍø advocate.
